Emma Koeckeritz

Sustainability Student Assistant

I grew up in Fergus Falls, a small town in western Minnesota surrounded by corn fields. I grew up on the water and have spent most of my childhood in a pool or at the lake. I am a sophomore studying Environment, Sustainability, and Geography with a minor in GIS. In my free time I enjoy hiking, reading, embroidery, and spending time with family and friends.

Sustainability has always been rooted in my life with my mom always encouraging us to be as sustainable as possible. I grew up learning and loving to thrift or going to estate sales. My mom has also introduced me to gardening, especially our own vegetables and flowers. She has also taught me how to compost and other sustainable practices. Coming to Duluth has only sprouted my love for sustainability and the environment and especially my love for sustainable landscaping. I believe that sustainability should be accessible to everyone and I strive to continue making a difference in that.
