Matthew grew up in Hampshire, a town on the edge of the Chicago suburbs and farmland. They spent most of their time growing up outside or reading and lived in The Netherlands for a year. For their undergrad, he attended Northern Michigan University for a degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainability and was involved in sustainability movements on campus. After graduating they worked as an outdoor educator before working with AmeriCorps in Watsonville, California. While there he was a teacher and gardener at an elementary school; educating their students on the natural world around them and how they can care for it. Matthew hikes, reads, and makes folk music in their free time.
As the Sustainability Coordinator Matthew works to help students achieve their goals in sustainability; be it on campus, in their classes, or beyond.
